How to become a REALTOR®

By contacting the Local Board of REALTORS® in your area.

Any licensed Real Estate Broker and their affiliated Real Estate Salespersons are eligible to hold membership in the South Dakota Association of REALTORS®. (Information on obtaining a Real Estate License and the current education requirements can be found through the South Dakota Real Estate Commission (605)773-3600. Prelicensing classes are taught in several locations throughout the state of South Dakota.

Why stand alone? Become a partner in the largest Trade Association in the nation - The National Association of REALTORS®. As a REALTOR® member you can use the term REALTOR®, which tells the public and your fellow real estate professionals that you adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and its standards of professionalism, integrity and competence. Effective leadership, cooperative effort, and responsible participation in community affairs make your Local Board of REALTORS® an important and respected part of the community.

The South Dakota Association of REALTORS® is the important organizational bridge between the Local Board of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. Membership in a Local Board automatically extends your membership to the State and National Associations.
